I custom design exclusive high-end luxury garden tours for a group of 6 people, only on request. I undertake a great deal of research to discover the most charming hotels, accommodation and great restaurants in beautiful locations. I like to provide a historical background of each garden and arrange, where-ever possible, private tours of the gardens visited and often the group are able to meet the owners or designers. A measured pace of two gardens a day over a period of approximately 6 days ensures an unforgettable experience for the garden enthusiast.
2015 NORTH ITALY
In May 2015 I designed a successful themed tour around Renaissance and Neo Renaissance Gardens of the Veneto and Tuscany Regions of Italy. Two days were spent in Verona staying at a charming 16th Century Villa just outside Verona. It is an Agriturismo establishment and the patroness provided delicious home cooked local and seasonal food. A visit to the sensational 16th Century Giardino Giusti kicked off the tour and it is set in the heart of Verona, a small town with a picturesque river and ancient Roman bridges. On the third day the group arrived to stay at Bellmont Villa San Michele for four nights, a five star hotel in the forested hills of Fiesole surrounding Florence. Wonderful gardens were visited in Florence including three Neo Renaissance gardens designed by Edwardian architect Cecil Pinsent in the 20th Century. The final day and the climax of the tour was a visit the famous garden of La Foce. This was also designed by Cecil Pinsent for the Origo family and is set in the breath taking beauty of the Val d'Orcia south of Florence and it was a perfect end to an enthralling tour.
